The Norwegian Academy of Music would like to invite you to participate in an international research study that explores various performance challenges that musicians experience in higher education, including nuanced differences in perceived playing difficulties, injuries, pains, confidence, and other varied experiences. This study is a unique opportunity to contribute to the music community’s understanding of the diverse experiences and challenges that musicians encounter, and your participation would be greatly valued. As an extra thank you, we also include our participants in gift-card lotteries of €90 per card, from any online store of their choosing.
All current conservatoire/university level music students are eligible to participate in this questionnaire that we have designed specifically for musicians. It takes between 15-25 minute to complete, and you can find links and more info about the study and the gift-card lottery at the survey’s website: https://nmh.no/en/research/projects/international-student-survey-musicians-health
The questionnaire and the lottery is repeated annually to track change over time, but this is optional and you can skip the follow-ups or withdraw at any time without questions asked. The survey is anonymized and uses strict data-protection services managed by the University of Oslo.

Balthasar NOVA program: this is the new 18-month orchestra academy of the Balthasar Neumann Orchestra. As applications are only possible until Sunday, 1 December 2024. Candidates can send us the necessary documents via muvac or to nova@kulturprojekte.com. Applications are possible for string and woodwind instruments, trumpet, horn and timpani/percussion. Verbier Festival Orchestra (opportunity for students) KLIK
Musicians aged 18 to 28 can apply via video or live audition to join this exceptional training programme. From 30 June – 4 August 2025, students will receive intensive coaching by players from top international orchestras, as well as celebrated conductors (Klaus Mäkelä, Barbara Hannigan, Manfred Honeck, Paavo Järvi, Fabio Luisi, and Teodor Currentzis). The concerts will be broadcast on medici.tv.
2025 applications are now open. The live audition application deadline is 12 December 2024, and the video audition application deadline is 16 January 2025. The live auditions will take place in Berlin, Geneva, New York, Paris, Vienna and Zurich in January and February.
