Prof. Natalia Farhi (Vocal Diction)
Born in Berlin and raised multilingually and multiculturally from an early age, Natalia Farhi began her vocal studies with Sarah Pring at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, while still at school. This was followed by studies in political science at the University of Florence and concurrent vocal studies at the Conservatoire 'Luigi Cherubini’ with M° Walter Alberti.
On returning to her native city she pursued her vocal studies with KS Prof. Carola Nossek as well as studies of vocal pedagogy at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik 'Hanns Eisler’, graduating with a diploma in both subjects.
After working as a freelance concert singer, she decided to follow her early passion and devote herself intensively to the field of vocal diction. Following initial teaching positions at the Rostock Academy of Music and Theatre and the Hochschule für Musik 'Hanns Eisler’ Berlin, where she first introduced vocal diction as a compulsory subject, she was appointed visiting professor for vocal diction at the HfM 'Hanns Eisler’ in 2018, teaching phonetics and diction for the languages German, Italian, French, English and Russian. A particular focus of her work lies on a comparative and technical approach to vocal diction.
In addition to her academic teaching, Natalia Farhi works as a diction coach with various renowned choirs and vocal ensembles, coaches international soloists in the sphere of opera and concert and gives workshops and master classes in Germany and abroad.
