Description and Structure

Dean
prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Sowiński

The Faculty of Instrumental Studies, Historical Performance, Jazz and Popular Music of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań was created by merging two previous faculties: the Faculty of Instrumental Studies that offered two majors: instrumental studies as well as jazz and popular music, and the Faculty of String Instruments, Harp, Guitar and Artistic Lutherie that offered courses in instrumental studies.
In its current form, it is the largest faculty at the Academy that offers 53 specialisations covering the full range of artistic performance: from historical instruments, through all classical instruments, to jazz performance, including jazz vocals, composition, and arrangement. Such a wide spectrum of artistic exploration gives the faculty a unique opportunity to present a variety of concerts and conduct multifaceted academic research, and gives students the chance to participate in multidimensional artistic projects.

The Faculty comprises three Institutes composed of substantive units: departments, sections, and laboratories:
