The Chair of Organ

The Chair of Organ was established in 2019. The unit focuses mainly on artistic, scientific, didactic and disseminating activities. Artistic projects carried out by the Chair include periodically held events such as:

  • “Organ Wednesdays”,
  • “Solo and Chamber Organ”,
  • “Lunch Concerts” addressed to seniors,
  • anniversary concerts,
  • solo and chamber concerts in churches in Poznań and its surroundings.

Moreover, the Chair organizes Academic Organ Competitions “Romuald Sroczynski in memoriam” and an annual scientific conference devoted to the renovation of historical organs. The unit initiates the documentation and thus the subsequent restoration of the historical organs of Poznań and the region of Wielkopolska. The Chair also organizes courses and seminars with the participation of pedagogues from other academic centers, including European ones, and supervises the students’ organ scientific club. The pedagogues collaborate with academic centers in Poland (Łódź, Katowice, Bydgoszcz), with European universities within the Erasmus program (including Lübeck, Leipzig, Hamburg, Berlin, Verona, Reykjavik, Vienna), and with other Chairs of the Academy of Music in Poznań such as the Chair of Piano, the Chair of Historical Performance Practices, the Chair of Church Music. The Chair collaborates most closely with the Feliks Nowowiejski Society and the Society of Friends of Poznań Parish Church.
