The Department of Musical Theater
Musical Theater Singing is the newest specialty in Poznań Academy of Music. It was established in 2017 as a response to the marked increase in popularity of the genre, which has been seen in Polish musical and dramatic theaters for several years. This originally American theatrical form combines singing, spoken dialogue and dance. It is an extremely stylistically diverse genre, synthesizing a variety of musical forms, from classical to entertainment and contemporary. Studies in Musical Theater Singing are offered at the Institute of Vocal Studies in the Faculty of Composition, Conducting, Vocal Performance, Music Theory and Artistic Education. The course is available at the Bachelor level in a four-year cycle.
Founded on December 1, 2020, the Department of Musical Theater is responsible for the following tasks:
- organizing and conducting artistic activities, in particular based on the presentation of educational results
- organizing and conducting academic activities as part of national and international research projects
- carrying out organizational activities as well as initiating artistic and research work
- conducting activities to promote the artistic and training offer of the Academy
- academic and artistic collaboration with related institutions at home and abroad.
