Polish Trombone Impressions
The end of November brought a premiere of a record published by DUX, titled Polish Trombone Impressions, whose publishing partner is The I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. This remarkable album is a unique summary of over a century of solo trombone music in the works of Polish composers. It presents compositions in which neoclassical form and advanced harmonies intertwine with a neo-Romantic style, abounding in lyrical motifs, virtuoso displays, and references to folklore. The record features works of such eminent composers as Z. Stojowski, W. Friemann, F. Nowowiejski, E. Fabiańska-Jelińska, A. Tansman, and T. Paciorkiewicz.
Performers include Wojciech Jeliński – trombone, Tomasz Sośniak – piano, Polish Brass Trio and TrombQuartet: refined Poznań-based instrumentalists who reveal the charm and noble sound of brass instruments in a sophisticated classical setting.
