The Chair of String Instruments

The Chair of String Instruments continues the tradition of the Poznań violin school established by  Zdzisław Jahnke and Jadwiga Kaliszewska. Students of the Chair regularly participate in the most significant national and international violin, viola, cello, double bass, and chamber music competitions at which they achieve spectacular successes. Teachers of the Chair are often invited to sit on juries of many string instrument competitions and lead numerous music courses and masterclasses. Graduates of the courses conducted at the Chair of String Instruments cope well in the labor market joining various orchestras, often as leaders. They acquire practice in this field thanks to projects within the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music (OSAM) and Chamber String Orchestra (KOS), as well as orchestral course classes conducted by the Chair of Orchestral Music.
