VERBIER FESTIVAL ACADEMY

The Verbier Festival Academy identifies, encourages and nurtures tomorrow’s exceptional soloists, chamber ensembles and singers. Musicians take part in masterclasses and workshops with leading performers and professors, exchange ideas with leaders in the music field, and perform for the enthusiastic Verbier Festival audiences.

Eligibility: no older than 30 on 6 August 2017

VERBIER FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA

The Verbier Festival Orchestra is one of the most renowned training orchestras in the world. Its players gain a unique insight into orchestral playing of the highest level through intensive coaching from principal members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and perform six concerts during the 2017 Verbier Festival under Music Director Charles Dutoit, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Antonio Pappano, Gianandrea Noseda, Mikhail Pletnev and Santtu-Matias Rouvali.

Eligibility: born between 1 January 1989 and 31 December 1998

VERBIER FESTIVAL JUNIOR ORCHESTRA

Talented young musicians, aged 15 to 18, seeking a life-changing musical experience need look no further than the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra. This international orchestral training programme provides one of the most intensive musical experiences for today’s young musicians. Members of the ensemble rehearse and perform alongside talented instrumentalists from all over the world and plunge into the fascinating Verbier Festival experience. The Junior Orchestra programme culminates with three concerts on the festival’s mainstage, Salle des Combins, including a semi-staged performance of Tchaikovsky’s beloved Eugene Onegin, featuring singers of the Verbier Festival Academy.

Eligibility: no younger than 15 on 16 July and no older than 18 on 6 August 2017
